This style of Chow chow kootu recipe, is a very popular kootu served in Tamil brahmin weddings and functions. Usually, we make kootu by adding moong dal or toor dal to this. We are adding only chana dal to this kootu, just to give a nice creamy texture and taste. This is served as an accompaniment like an aviyal. We usually don’t mix this with rice and eat. We can make a simple vatha kuzhambu or any tamarind based gravy and accompany that with this kootu. This tastes similar to aviyal but we are not adding curd to this.
