All you need to make fruit chaat:
a big bowl of seasonal ripe fruitmy recipe for chaat sauce
Pour the chaat sauce all over the chopped fruit – that’s it! The fruit chaat is ready to eat. This spiced fruit salad makes for a delicious appetizer or side dish – it’d be great for your next barbecue or family event. You can use any fruit: apples, bananas, berries, guava, mango, watermelon. My recipe for fruit chaat is a bit different because it calls for a chaat dressing rather than a sprinkling of spices but trust me, you’ll prefer it this way. My chaat dressing is sweet and tangy and allows you to get an even coating all over the fruit – that way you’re not biting into a piece of fruit with all of the black salt (which might be a good or bad thing, depending on your taste lol). If you’re wondering when to make this – I think it’s perfect to go along with any Indian meal. It’s a bit unusual which also makes it more special. I think it’d be awesome to serve at a barbecue too. You guys already know that I’m Indian. I mean, my name (Ashley Thomas) probably doesn’t give it away but hopefully, it’s pretty clear given the number of Indian recipes that I share and considering that I have two cookbooks both of which are Indian. Anyway, there’s this thing that pretty much every Indian person I know does in the summer and that is to have an “Indian fusion barbecue.” It’s kind of like an unspoken thing, I think? What’s an Indian-ish barbecue? It’s when you have a barbecue with a few Indian dishes or Indian-ish dishes. For example, at my house or my parent’s house, we do the American thing and have regular barbecue chicken and burgers or hot dogs and then we’ll usually also have some type of salad or pasta salad. Then we’ll have some Indian or Indian-ish dishes – maybe achari chicken or seekh kebabs, corn on the cob covered with lemon and Indian red chili pepper, Indian bean and corn salad. If you’re at my place, then maybe grilled fruit lassi. Well, you guys can add this fruit chaat to your list of Indian dishes to make or bring to your next barbecue. Your friends will ooh and aah over it! Like this recipe? Pin it to your favorite Pinterest board now so you will remember to make it later!
