Usually, it is mixed with hot rice, and smeared with ghee or sesame oil, it is a staple in South Indian cuisine. In Andhra cuisine they make spicier version of Paruppu podi | dal powder | kandi podi. Dry roast the ingredients till the toor dal turns a golden brown color.

When it is cool, grind it into fine powder.Store this in an airtight container.Enjoy with hot rice.
